While in Oia (Ia), we suggest you visit the Castle, the windmills and the Maritime Museum. Other interesting sites on the island include the Archaeological museum, the Folklore museum and the Prehistoric Museum, the two cathedrals and the Venetian Castle Gizi in Fira Town as well as many churches, monasteries and vineyards scattered around the island. Santorini also has some of the finest archaeological sites in the Cyclades, such as the ruins of the Minoan City in Akrotiri, the ancient ruins of the City of Thira and the relics of the ancient cemetery in Phinikia.
Oia Santorini Beaches & Surrounding Isles
Santorini posseses some of the most unique beaches in the world, such as the black beaches of Kamari, Monolithos, Perissa and Perivolos and the Red and White Beaches in Akrotiri. For a interesting day trip, we suggest you take a boat to the volcanic isles of Thirasia, Nea Kammeni and Palaia Kammeni that are located opposite Santorini Island. Boat trips during sunset are also available, offering a unique perspective of the famous sunset.
Oia Santorini Entertainment
Santorini hosts an international music festival each year in August. Also noteworthy are the festivities which occur on August 15 to celebrate Panagia (The Virgin Mary).
Local Cuisine of Santorini
A trip to Santorini is not complete without trying the local delicacies for which the island is so famous. Oia has many small taverns that serve tasty local dishes such as fava, fresh seafood dishes, fried white eggplant and Santorinian wine.
